Need Help Choosing a Specialist after your Visit?

If you or your child's pediatrician do not choose a specific specialist at the time of your appointment, our referral department will automatically send a referral to a specialist based on specialty and distance. We understand that the specialist we select may not be a perfect match for a variety of reasons, including accepted insurance, distance, scope of service, or wait time.

We have created a resource to help you find the right specialist for your child before calling us to redirect your referral. In addition to the steps below, we have provided a list of specialists we most commonly refer to. We encourage you to call your selected provider before contacting us to ensure your child's referral is completed in a timely manner.

Steps for Notifying us of your desired Specialist:

  1. Contact your insurance plan to find out if your plan requires a referral to see a specialist.

  2. Use your insurance plan's website or member portal to find an in-network specialist:

  3. Once you have selected the specialist you want, call them directly and ask the following questions:

    1. Are you accepting new patients?

    2. What insurance plans do you accept?

    3. What ages of patients do you see?

    4. What is the wait time for an appointment?

  4. Once you find a specialist that meets your child's needs, please email us at referrals@agavepediatrics.com. Please be sure to include:

    1. Child's Name

    2. Child's DOB

    3. Specialist Name

    4. Specialist Office Address

  5. Our referral department will send your referral to that specialist along with the required medical records. We will send an email or text once the referral is complete. Please allow minimum 5-7 days for processing.

  6. If your specialist is in the Phoenix Children's network, you can schedule your appointment directly at https://appointments.phoenixchildrens.com/Appointments/FindPatient and email us once complete.

  • Agave Pediatrics does not maintain information on specialists' availability or wait times.

  • Insurance coverage can change frequently and without notice. While we have listed accepted insurances to the best of our knowledge, we recommend contacting the specialty office directly to confirm they accept your insurance plan.
