Corona Virus Information
Hello Agave family,
We realize that this is a very difficult time for our families and everyone is understandably concerned. Please be assured that Agave Pediatrics is staying current on all activity surrounding Coronavirus in our communities.
Effective immediately, we are only scheduling well-child exams and follow-ups for well children from 8am to noon daily. Children with any sick symptoms will be scheduled from 1pm to 4:15pm daily. Please limit family members for all visit types and do not bring anyone (including family members) with sick symptoms into our office from 8am to noon.
During this time, it is important that we all do our part in adhering to recommended social distancing efforts such as keeping children home and out of crowded public places, avoiding unnecessary travel, and seeking medical care responsibly.
Parents are always encouraged to make office visits for any concerns or symptoms they feel unable to manage at home. Otherwise, many children with respiratory infections can be cared for using conservative measures such as fever medications, nasal saline drops, cool-mist humidifiers, and adequate hydration. Symptoms of the novel Coronavirus are similar to symptoms of most other respiratory infections and may include cough, nasal congestion, runny nose, sore throat, or fever. Most of the time, children with the Coronavirus will experience mild symptoms and recover well. As with any illness, children experiencing respiratory distress, or any infant younger than 3 months of age with a fever of 100.4 or greater, should be evaluated in an emergency room immediately.
Parents can visit the Centers for Disease Control Website for up-to-date information on Coronavirus.
Please note: Coronavirus testing is reserved for very ill children or children who are at high-risk for developing complications from respiratory infections. Most children do not meet this criteria and will not be tested, as testing does not change how your child will be treated. Testing resources will likely deplete quickly and we must utilize supplies responsibly. We are strictly adhering to national recommendations that discourage testing individuals with mild symptoms.
You can help reduce the spread of infection by washing your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.
If soap and water are not available, you may use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer.
Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.
Avoid close contact with people who are sick and stay home when you are sick to avoid spreading illness to others.
Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash. Lastly, clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.
Thank you,
Agave Pediatrics
