Dr. Agarwal is truly an exceptional doctor. We recently were referred to
him by our midwife, PCP, and several moms for our son’s tongue tie.
He is a doctor that truly cares about the patient and isn’t in a
rush during his appointments.
I had my two older children with me and both times we went (my son had
a lip tie and a tongue tie) Dr. Agarwal conversed with my children whom
he could have simply overlooked since the appointment wasn’t for
them. But his bedside manner was so kind and caring that it made me comfortable
knowing that not only was he more than qualified to perform the procedure
on my newborn, but that he truly cared about his well being and would
take an interest in my family. We were not just another appointment to
him. At least that is how he came across: genuinely interested in how
we were doing.
Another thing, besides great bedside manner, was his genuine desire to
help mothers breast feed and his dedication to making it possible. He
mentioned that even if he sees a tongue tie in the hospital he is not
quick to encourage surgery to fix it. Instead he said that its about functionality.
After all, some are able to function with a tie, and others are not. That
made me realize his open mindedness to the uniqueness of breast feeding
and how it is different for everyone. For me, I knew something was off
because I was able to breast feed my older two children for 20 and 30
months, but this third child was unique and Dr. Agarwal recognizes that
each baby is different in the way that they breast fed.
Overall, i was impressed at his passion and dedication to breastfeeding
even though he, being a male, couldn’t physically relate to my pain.
He was understanding of my pain and the lack of function and very encouraging
of breast feeding. Wow! What a doctor!
